Consulting Director, Project Management (Project Management)



ERM is seeking a Consultant Director to join our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation technical team in Holland, Michigan. In this role, you will provide project management and senior technical assistance on site investigation, remediation, and environmental construction projects for clients locally and nationally and support the commercial team leaders to develop opportunities with ERM's clients.

As a Consulting Director, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM's business and client base primarily focused in North America, while networking with ERM's global Liability Portfolio Management & Remediation commercial and technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and provide strategic and technical expertise on site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the chemical, manufacturing, power, technology, and oil & gas sectors, with particular focus on sites across the Midwest and Northeast.
  • Design and oversee implementation of remedial solutions for contaminated soil, ground water, and other media using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems.
  • Oversee multiple projects within client's scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables across ERM's Liability Portfolio Management & Remediation service line [e.g., Brownfields redevelopment, site investigation and remediation, sustainable sediments, risk assessment, environmental construction management, site closure and decommissioning].
  • Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Coordinate with ERM offices in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe regions on national and international project delivery, where needed, within Liability Portfolio Management & Remediation as well as other services lines such Health and Safety.
  • Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the Liability Portfolio Management & Remediation service area in North America.
  • Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. 
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in science engineering or related discipline and Masters preferred.
  • 8-12+ years (20+ years preferred) consulting experience working with significant industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation projects under a variety of state, federal, and international regulatory structures (e.g., Massachusetts Contingency Plan, CERCLA, etc.). 
  • Recognized expert with an established reputation in the regional marketplace
  • Excellent writing, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate, with proven negotiation skills with state and local regulators.
