Senior DevOps Engineer (Information Technology)

Amerisure is currently recruiting for a Senior DevOps Engineer that can do a 2-day hybrid approach onsite in our Farmington Hills office. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set. 

Summary Statement

The DevOps Engineer, Senior will lead the design and implementation of advanced DevOps solutions to streamline development, deployment, and operational processes. This role will focus on architecting robust CI/CD pipelines, managing complex cloud environments, and implementing container orchestration strategies using industry-standard tools. With a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and performance, the senior engineer will mentor team members, establish best practices, and drive the adoption of innovative DevOps tools and methodologies to support organizational objectives.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties

  • Architect and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support complex deployment strategies, multi- environment releases, and high-availability applications. Leverage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning.
  • Implement and enforce advanced version control and branching strategies, ensuring a smooth development workflow while maintaining security and compliance. Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers on best practices.
  • Proactively analyze and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, leveraging monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and implementing self-healing mechanisms in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Develop robust automation frameworks to improve deployment efficiency, system monitoring, and cloud cost optimization using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Lead cross-team collaborations, working with engineering, security, and operations teams to enhance DevOps processes, reduce deployment risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Own and evolve documentation standards, ensuring all DevOps procedures, automation workflows, and troubleshooting playbooks are well-maintained and accessible.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Services, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced scripting skills (C#, Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Proficiency in version control (ADO), Master ADO workflows (Agile, Scrum)
  • Master IaC tools, Use IaC for large-scale infrastructure, Lead IaC code reviews, and enforce best practices
  • Master configuration management tools, Architect complex configuration management solutions, Implement custom configuration management modules and providers
  • Architect complex ADO pipelines, Create complex pipelines with multiple stages, Implement custom ADO extensions and integrations
  • Master cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Use cloud for large-scale deployments, Lead cloud migrations and optimizations
  • Master container orchestration (Kubernetes), Use containerization for large-scale deployments, Lead containerization code reviews, and enforce best practices
  • Master monitoring and logging tools, use monitoring and logging for large-scale deployments, Lead monitoring and logging code reviews, and enforce best practices
  • Master multiple security tools and frameworks, Implement advanced security controls (encryption, key management), Implement advanced security automation
  • Strategic communication, expert problem-solving, grit, humility, thriving in ambiguity, building high-performing teams, and cool under pressure.
  • Ownership of technical domain operations, KPIs, compliance requirements, audit and control mechanisms, and advanced knowledge of business processes and outcomes.
  • Understanding system generated data, where and how it is modeled and flows, data quality, and data stewardship across domain
  • Can lead agile practices in place of scrum master role, as required. Knowledgeable of Scaled Agile (SAFe) layers and operations. Collaborates with others to improve agile delivery practices and increase collaboration and throughput.
