Medical Case Specialist I (Healthcare)

Leidos QTC Health Services is seeking a Medical Case Specialist I on our Veterans' Services team. In this role, you will work closely with veterans and the Veterans Administration to gather, collect, record, track, and verify data and information from multiple sources. You will use software for the functional area to schedule appointments and document in the case management systems while ensuring customer service at all customer touchpoints.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones from automated call distribution system
  • Triage daily download of referrals and ensure appropriate worksheets are assigned to corresponding conditions as identified by Veteran's Administration
  • Communicate directly with claimants and providers
  • Obtain medical history for specific conditions
  • Determine appropriate examinations, tests and specialists required for each case
  • Schedule appointments for examinees including follow-up appointments and rescheduled appointments
  • Ensure all examinees and providers receive necessary documentation
  • Confirm consultative reports and diagnostic test results are received in a timely manner
  • Meet or exceed contract timeliness guidelines in both the scheduling and case management systems
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
  • If applicable, must be able to pass a federal background check and/or obtain and maintain additional clearances as specified by the contract (e.g., NACI, PIV, SMS, TMS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast paced office environment
  • Experience with medical scheduling and high volume calls
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to critically evaluate and resolve problems

Additional Information:

  • Training: Onsite at our San Antonio, TX office located at 4400 N.W. Loop 410, Ste. 500 San Antonio, TX 78229
  • Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (CST)
  • Probationary Period:  Employment as a Medical Case Specialist I will include successful completion of a 90-day probationary period during which you will be given objectives to achieve. This timeframe lets you assess your readiness for the position as well as allows Leidos QTC Health Services to determine your ability to successfully perform the job. You will be provided objectives, documentation, training, and performance feedback during the 90-day probationary period as part of your assimilation to the role. After successfully completing the 90-day probationary period, you will be considered a permanent employee
