Job Overview:

In this role the Quality Inspector will support receiving and production inspection activities to include testing, root cause analysis, and corrective action. In this role, you will maintain meticulous documentation of inspection results in compliance with the Quality Management System, including reports, logs, and summaries of rework activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently inspecting in-process products during manufacturing and assembly.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) and dimensional inspections, including ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and visual inspections.
  • Conducting and documenting inspections, including visual assessments, dimensional measurements, physical testing, and non-destructive testing of components.
  • Perform final and in-process inspections of repaired equipment (engines, engine related components, and compressor components.) to verify workmanship and compliance with work scopes and specifications.
  • Conduct dimensional, functional, and electrical testing to confirm equipment is ready for return to service.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate, including inspection checklists, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and repair records.
  • Review and verify work orders and traveler documentation for traceability and proper sign-offs.
  • Lead root cause investigations for quality escapes and support corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on inspection progress, quality issues, and timelines.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, repair manuals, and customer requirements to validate repairs.
  • Inspecting and testing components/assemblies using predetermined specifications, methods, and inspection plans to validate purchased and manufactured products against requirements.
  • Approving certifications of raw materials before release for production.
  • Processing non-conformance issues and liaising with Engineering to promptly resolve quality-related concerns.
  • Making "accept" or "reject" decisions on quality acceptability and initiating minor rework dispositions.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • NDT certification (e.g., Level II or III), ISO 9001, or equivalent quality standards certification preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality inspection within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on engines, compressors, or similar mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas industry quality standards, inspection processes, and regulatory compliance (e.g., API, ASME, ASTM).
  • Weld experience: Welding Operator Performance Qualifications (WPQ), Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) design and understanding of Procedure Qualification records (PQR).
  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools and measuring equipment and experienced with interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and components, specifically engines and compressors.
  • Familiarity with quality management software (QMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
