ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR (Transportation)



Summary:  Directs warehousing activities for the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Schedule: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. (may vary depending on the number of customer orders scheduled for the following day)
  • Oversee warehouse personnel schedules. This includes the control of excessive overtime.
  • Direct and train warehouse personnel on forklift and pallet jack requirements.
  • Verify product counts on the trucks per standard operating procedures.
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager on inventory counts and the review of overages/shortages.
  • Assist warehouse employees, as needed, to build bulk delivery pallets for customers and to load them into delivery vehicles in proper order.
  • Daily shipping/receiving: unload trucks, verify the accuracy of shipments against the bills of lading or other records, check for shortages, reject damaged goods, and check dunnage.
  • Operates gas, propane, or electric-powered forklift trucks. Collect and deliver goods, materials, and products to the appropriate location in the warehouse or loading docks.
  • Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.
  • Assist in work-related or personnel problem resolution.
  • Participates in the safety program and follows all company policies and procedures.

Education/Experience:

A minimum of 6 months of Supervisory experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience; a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual will know Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Encompass software is a plus, but not required.

Certificates and Licenses:

Forklift/Pallet Jack Operator. May also be required to drive vehicles in and out of the warehouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Background Requirements:  Employee must pass a background check, motor vehicle driver check, drug screen, and agility test.
