Under general direction and in accordance with Company policies and procedures, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, this important role provides a wide variety of support to the HR department and client groups in executing day-to-day human resources activities. The incumbent will work regularly with information of a highly confidential nature; and deal with diverse matters which require knowledge of Human Resources and the Company infrastructure.

Jackson Hewitt is looking for a HR Generalist to join our team to help us with onboarding, administration and reporting, employee relations, and employee experience team project support.

What you'll do here:

  • Assists in Employee Relations investigations including interviews, research, and writing the investigation summary.
  • Coach managers in handling difficult employee situations as well performance management issues including JH's formal performance management process.
  • Supports with the implementation and interpretation of various HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage background, I9, and E-Verify compliance and tracking.
  • Answering employee and manager questions, creating, and distributing documents, providing customer service to management team.
  • Evaluates and improves employee experience of our employees.
  • Assists within HR department projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Creates and maintains records for all employee files, manage compliance for onboarding documents.
  • Creates and runs regular and ad hoc reports from HRIS for local use by HR and/or the management team.
  • Attentive to workplace environment and addresses potential and actual issues as necessary to create and maintain a positive culture. Escalates concerns as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills you'll bring for success:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources strongly preferred or equivalent related business experience.
  • 2-4 years related human resources and proven track record performing investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and priorities while hitting deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
