Tax Analyst (Finance)

Phillips Edison's operating platform provides retail services including acquisition, redevelopment, leasing and management of grocery-anchored retail centers.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare and review quarterly income tax estimates and withholding calculations on partner distributions for states.
  • Complete and review calculations, workpapers, and tax returns prepared by less experienced staff and co-ops.
  • Assist with various tax planning calculations and technical research.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasts of E&P and annual E&P process.
  • Prepare partnership, corporation and REIT tax compliance for a national retail real estate company.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual REIT income and asset tests. Work with other departments within the company to ensure accurate information is obtained for the REIT income test.
  • Prepare debt allocations for partnerships.
  • Prepare income allocations for partnerships, including analyzing partnership agreements for income allocations.
  • Calculate tax basis and depreciation of assets.
  • Prepare sales, use and personal property tax returns.
  • Respond to notices from various taxing jurisdictions. Participate in tax audits.
  • Maintain capital accounts for partnerships.
  • Perform tax research for federal and state issues.
  • Participate in identifying ways to gain efficiencies in processes and leverage technology.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining department internal controls, processes, and procedures. 

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Master's degree with a focus on Accounting or Tax; or Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred.
  • 2+ years of tax corporate/partnership experience preferred.
  • Partnership, real estate and REIT tax experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with a desire to learn and be challenged.
  • Excellent computer skills including a proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task various projects to hard deadlines, including prioritizing and time-managing recurring duties and ad hoc tasks as they arise.
