Chief Data Officer (Finance)

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is an executive-level leader responsible for the enterprise-wide governance and utilization of data as a strategic asset. This role defines and leads the organization's data strategy, ensuring data quality, integrity, accessibility, and security across all business units. The CDO works closely with C-suite executives to enable data-driven decision-making, foster innovation, and support digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy & Governance:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned with business goals.
    • Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance.
    • Oversee the organization's data architecture, platforms, and integration capabilities.
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Lead cross-functional teams including data engineering, analytics, governance, and data science.
    • Foster a data-driven culture by evangelizing the strategic value of data and analytics across the organization.
    • Partner with CIO, CTO, CMO, and other executives to integrate data strategy with business strategy.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Mitigate data-related risks by overseeing data security, privacy, and ethical usage policies.
  • Innovation & Value Creation:
    • Identify opportunities to leverage data for new business models, improved customer experiences, and operational efficiency.
    • Guide the implementation of advanced analytics, AI/ML initiatives, and data monetization strategies.
  • Performance Measurement:
    • Define and track KPIs to assess the impact and maturity of data initiatives.
    • Report on data management performance and insights to executive leadership and the board.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in data management, data analytics, or information governance roles.
  • Proven executive leadership experience, ideally as a CDO or similar role in a complex, data-rich organization.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, data architecture, regulatory compliance, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy and how to translate data into business value.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
  • Advanced degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred.

Education:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning.

Pay Range: $227,952.00 - $341,928.00
