Mechanic II (Engineering)
Perform diagnostics and repairs on engines, hydraulics, air brakes, and drivetrain systems.
Utilize diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Bendix Acom, Cat ET) to identify and resolve issues.
Conduct servicing and maintenance, including fluid changes, tire repairs, and DEF/DPF system on all heavy equipment and vehicles.
Oversee documentation and compliance with safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations and equipment reliability.
What We're Looking For
Knowledge and Skills:
Expertise in diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and electronic controls.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Familiarity with safety standards and practices in mechanical work environments.
Experience and Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of a Heavy Equipment, Automotive, or Diesel Technical Vocational School a plus.
1-3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Fleet Mechanic preferred.
Military-experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
Clean driving record (5 years required).
Ability to provide a Motor Vehicle Record upon job offer.
Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
Possess your own large tools.
Willingness to travel and stay on-site five days a week throughout Northern California.
Work Environment
A mix of indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and shop materials.
Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Supervisory responsibilities:
While this position does not have formal supervisory authority, the Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic II is expected to support and guide General Mechanics, Mechanic I, and Field Mechanics.
Work environment
All work is performed either inside a machine shop with open bay doors, to outside in all types of various weather (i.e. heat, cold, wind, sun and inclement weather, etc.)
Exposure to all types of automotive solvents.
Exposure to all elements of nature on a regular basis.
Exposure to loud noise.
Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, dust, etc.
Physical demands: The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Occasionally sits; frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Able to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
Must have good visual and auditory physical capabilities in order to manage sight and sounds in a hazardous machine shop environment.
Able to push, pull, climb, sit, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job.
Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable.
Ability to work around loud noises.
Coordination between hands, eyes, feet to guide equipment and objects is required.
Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work overtime as requested.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.
Able to lift to 60 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
