Lead Housekeeper (GRN) (Maintenance)



POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for the overall safety, cleanliness and maintenance of YMCA facilities. Assist members, guests, and staff in a friendly and professional manner. Keeps, the facility free of hazards and performs maintenance and cleaning duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the direct cleaning of the YMCA, such as cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, picking up trash/spills, etc., floor cleaning and maintenance, in all areas of the Y.
Performs housekeeping duties: provides "hands on" experience to maintain clean facilities
Helps to develop and follow cleaning checklist for all areas of the building on a daily basis.
Responsible for communicating and submitting to supervisor inventory, supplies needed to maintain the building
Order & Coordinate Supplies: paper products, cleaning supplies, etc. per established schedule
Organize, clean and maintain storage area for the cleaning supplies and equipment
Maintain a clean and positive image along with YMCA attire/uniform
Maintain communication with all staff via in person and / or through work orders that are developed
Can create, follow and finish work orders in a timely manner
Interact with staff and members in a positive manner and create a team atmosphere
Develop an understanding and commitment to the Annual Campaign
Works closely with Property Director and / or appropriate staff to help process new hire paperwork.
Provides Leadership and Training to other housekeeping staff; coordinates work and scheduling of community service and volunteers working in housekeeping
Provide consistent feedback to housekeeping staff related to areas of improvement and facility related issues impacting membership satisfaction. Work closely with Property Director to address issues.
Ability to cover shifts and work evenings and weekends.
Ability to perform "hands on" minor maintenance tasks as needed such as; changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks/toilets/drains, painting and light plumbing.

Attend required abuse risk management training.
Screen employees and volunteers for abuse risk according to policies and procedures.
Train, supervise, and require adherence of employees and volunteers to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback about boundaries with consumers.
Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations.
Respond quickly and seriously to all reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
Communicate the YMCA's commitment to abuse prevention.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper
Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
Customer-oriented and friendly
Prioritization and time management skills
Working quickly without compromising quality
Knowledge of English language
Communicate verbally to groups and individuals
Can use a computer for email communications & work order tracking systems
