WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Satellite Network Engineer role includes the design, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and support of our growing customer base. The right candidate is an independent problem solver with a strong, positive attitude. The ability to learn and implement new technologies is essential. This individual will provide leadership not only to other engineers on the team, but also to other work centers throughout the company. The position is part of a team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet external customer objectives and SLAs.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Interface directly with channel customers and contractors by being the company's focal point of contact for all support activities
  • Serve as primary interface between customers and the SageNet Implementation team for order submission and upgrade efforts
  • Support, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate the usage of, but not limited to: LAN/WAN, security, UTM, VoIP, wireless, and VPN technologies for multiple customer networks
  • Assess customer environments and make recommendations based on needs
  • Provide assessments, design deployment and implementation services of multi-vendor solutions, and maintain support methodologies for multiple large Energy customers
  • Analyze and monitor customer and backhaul network workload, capacity, and performance
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Define and maintain backhaul network infrastructure utilizing multiple backbone technologies
  • Provide engineering support for network design, performance tuning, and monitoring
  • Manage network incident and outage escalation
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
  • Create and maintain all required network documentation including diagrams and troubleshooting methodologies using provided tools
  • Participate in on-call duties.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of networking experience in environments supporting multiple vendors and networking products
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
  • Proficiency with routers, switches, network security devices, and network management systems
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (DMVPN, IPSEC, BGP, MPLS, VRF, QoS, Spanning-Tree, OSPF, RIPv2, 802.11, ACLs, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Ability to perform under pressure and communicate effectively with senior management
  • Strong proficiency with Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

  • CCNP certification or equivalent technical expertise
  • Experience with Fortinet products and solutions
  • Prior experience working with large Energy customers or in highly regulated environments
  • Customer-first mindset with proven ability to build trusted relationships
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and evolving customer needs


WHERE YOU'LL WORK

This role is based primarily on-site at SageNet's Marietta office and data center facilities. As a Satellite Network Engineer, you'll be part of a highly skilled team in a business casual environment that fosters collaboration, productivity, and technical excellence.

  • On-site presence required at the Marietta office
  • Hands-on work with satellite equipment, racks, cabling, and physical infrastructure
  • Flexibility to support critical maintenance windows and respond to incidents
  • Active participation in equipment installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires both desk-based work and hands-on physical activity in a data center and technical environment.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while working in a data center or equipment environment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or satellite hardware weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching to access cabling, racks, and satellite equipment
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for handling tools, cabling, and computer equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces as required for installation and maintenance
  • Visual acuity to analyze monitoring applications, technical diagrams, and equipment displays both on screens and on devices
  • Comfortable working in environments that may include elevated noise levels, temperature variations, and extended on-site shifts when supporting critical incidents or maintenance windows.
