AVP, Strategic Services (Finance)



Nemours Children's Health is seeking an AVP, Strategic Services to join our team in either Jacksonville, Florida, Orlando, Florida or Wilmington, Delaware.

The AVP, Strategic Services will serve in a unique role across the system, as a key piece of the Transformation Office. They will partner closely with our regional strategy teams to support their efforts and bring a system lens to those discussions. Through data, they will identify opportunities and considerations for the system overall, as we think about the overall strategic direction. In addition, they will play a pivotal role in the 2028 strategic planning efforts. Finally, they will oversee the System Initiative Management (SIM) process as it continues to evolve to meet the needs of our growing enterprise.

  • Initiative Management
    • The AVP of Strategic Services leads system-wide is responsible for the direction and operational oversight of the Initiative Management Process, inclusive of Strategic, Operational, and Contractual initiatives. This requires collaboration with senior leaders across the system to align strategic priorities, educate on industry standards, develop business plans, manage an intake and endorsement process, partner with executive leaders for prioritization and decisioning, and to monitor initiatives to ensure transparency around their progress. SIM develops, processes, and prioritizes more than $100M worth of business plans annually.
  • Initiative Measurement
    • The AVP is responsible for the leadership and oversight of complex, statistical, and strategic data architectures and analyses through integration of data and insights from a variety of internal and external information sources. These datasets will be used to monitor initiative progress and to inform and guide executive leadership's initiative decision making. Reports will be produced for operational and system leadership as is defined in the Initiative Management decisioning process. This requires an advanced knowledge of report writing, statistical analytics, and healthcare data infrastructure.
  • Initiative Development:
    • The AVP is responsible for the successful development and advancement of key strategic initiatives, as requested by regional strategy and operational leaders. The AVP will work closely with the regional strategy, operational, and finance VPs/Sr VPs/Presidents to proactively identify, align, and develop key initiatives. The AVP will lead the aggregation of resources, development of concepts, and refinement of a proposal to meet the expectations on the Executive Cabinet. This requires a proficiency in healthcare operations, healthcare finance, industry trends, system strategy, and a comprehensive national pediatric healthcare network.
  • Initiative Deployment/Project Management
    • The AVP will have executive oversight of the System Project Management Office. The office is responsible for the on time and on budget implementation of the most critical initiatives and projects across the system or locally to a region. This includes the intake and assessing of project demands, assignment of work, oversight of implementation, support in problem solving, and advancement of skillsets, tools, and infrastructure. This will align with the initiatives processed through initiative management and requires an understanding of project management methodologies and principles.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and coaching for staff to develop and flourish. Direct reports are between 7 and 10 personnel.

  • Job Requirements
    • Master's Degree required.
    • Minimum of five (5)+ years' experience in healthcare strategy, systemwide strategy and business planning required.
