As the Principal Society Relations Specialist at Medtronic, you will play a crucial role in driving a strong surgeon/HCP (Healthcare Provider) society participation strategy that meets our Cranial and Spinal Technologies (CST) therapy needs as your focus is to deliver world-class education programs to surgeons at society conferences providing opportunity for meaningful customer experiences and interactions. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders including Physician Relations, Marketing, Training and Sales teams to plan, develop, market, and execute robust program offerings to provide best-in-class learning for our customers. These society programs will align to the key business strategies. You will work with expert Health Care Professionals (HCP) faculty to ensure programming meets the needs of physicians and related HCPs. You will identify areas of continuous improvement and implement best practices across the team to maximize resources. Your contributions will directly impact our mission to provide connected, consistent customer experiences across CST to drive awareness of our technology and procedural solutions, advocacy for our CST ecosystem, and meaningful customer interactions by delivering focused relationship management and strategic customer operations.

This position sits within the Strategic Partnerships team and reports to the Director of Society Relations. In this highly collaborative role, you will work in tandem with cross-functional team members on the development of our society participation strategy. You will collaborate closely with society relations, marketing, medical education, research and development, communications, global strategies, and operations. As a trusted partner, our team collaborates to deliver a best-in-class customer experience and culture for young surgeons and strategic targets throughout the CST ecosystem.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, fosters and maintains key relationships with healthcare professionals to aid in the education of other healthcare professionals
  • Organizes company-sponsored symposia for society meetings. Key activities include agenda creation, marketing, registration, curriculum content, contracts, payments, and hand-on opportunities for educational programs at society conferences.
  • Develops concepts and aligns programs with market, product and brand strategies.
  • Work with Marketing, Training, and other relevant cross-functional partners to ensure the content is relevant, innovative, compliant, and interactive whether for in-person or virtual programs.
  • Promote programs / resources to internal and external stakeholders and customers
  • Develop compliant content and manage content through the ad promo approval process. This requires ongoing understanding of and adherence to as promo guidelines and work instructions that maintain compliance.
  • Responds to outside requests for samples, literature, and general information.
  • Maintain project management tracking for program activities relevant to compliance, logistics, budget, and metrics. Utilize data systems (i.e., SDFC, CVENT, etc.) to track program metrics and report out.
  • May negotiate sponsorship contracts.
  • Demonstrate willingness to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse set of peers and colleagues across organizational levels to include Sales and global business partners
  • Have in-depth understanding of and maintain compliance to business conduct and other policies, processes and required documentation.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Medical device and/or healthcare experience.
  • Experience in supporting or planning education programs for medical device industry at society conferences.
  • Experience working with Healthcare Professionals (HCP's), Marketing, and Sales.
  • Project/Program management experience, organizational skillset, and ability to meet timelines.
  • Demonstrate ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse set of customers as well as peers and colleagues across organizational levels

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$130,400.00 - $195,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
