Community Access Advocate Intern (432) (Personal Services)



Kings View is a nonprofit leader in providing behavioral health services to the underserved community, is currently seeking a driven Community Access Advocate Intern to join our mission to provide compassionate services to those with limited resources. Our ideal candidate will have a passion to promote social justice and societal awareness, respect for human dignity, and lead with integrity while listening and responding to the community in need.

The Community Access Advocate Internship provides an opportunity for an individual to gain workplace experience in advocacy, community engagement, and employment skills development. Interns will support Kings Views Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) initiatives and receive job coaching, skill-building opportunities, and training in content creation, public speaking, and self-advocacy. The internship is designed to support the Interns long-term goal of integrated competitive employment.

How will I contribute
Actively participate in learning and training opportunities to increase professional capacity in the areas of workplace time management and scheduling, presentation skills, applying feedback to improve job performance, and effective communication with team members and leadership. Engage in internship activities for up to a maximum of 1040 hours over a years time.Learn and understand HCBS educational materials used for community presentationsAssist in the development and creation of HCBS advocacy materials and resourcesSupport Kings View and community partners with tasks related to self-advocacy and community inclusionParticipate in employment skill-building activities focused on content development, presentation delivery, and communicationCommunicate regularly with assigned job coach and Kings View staff to identify and implement any needed accommodations and supportsOffer feedback on the internship experience to help improve program practices and outcomesPerform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
