Job Description

Join the KPFF Lacey team in a fun, dynamic office setting and take the lead on proactively expanding our market presence. In this role, you will actively seek out new opportunities, cultivate client and partner relationships, represent KPFF at industry and networking events, and steer the entire proposal-development process. You will help to identify opportunities and produce RFP/RFQ/SOQ submittals. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Lacey team, you will keep KPFF front-of-mind with current and prospective clients while turning new connections into successful projects across the region and beyond. This position is full time and based on-site in our Lacey office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of proposal development, from kickoff to submission, ensuring clarity, quality, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to assess opportunities, guide go/no-go discussions, and craft strategic, tailored responses.
  • Write and edit non-technical content, including cover letters, resumes, project descriptions, and executive summaries.
  • Prepare interview and presentation materials as needed for shortlisted teams.
  • Attend pre-proposal meetings and coordinate with subconsultants to gather required content.
  • Ensure all submissions meet agency or client requirements and KPFF quality standards.
  • Analyze proposals and market trends to inform strategy and strengthen future submissions.
  • Lead or support strategy meetings, monthly marketing updates, and internal coordination around upcoming pursuits.
  • Attend local industry and networking events to build relationships and increase KPFF's visibility in the community.
  • Partner with project teams to develop messaging that reflects client priorities and goals.
  • Support staff with marketing content for events, meetings, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Maintain and organize proposal content and CRM records (Unanet) to ensure accurate, current data.
  • Continuously assess and improve proposal processes based on feedback and performance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing and/or business development.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience leading capture planning and full-cycle RFP/RFQ/SOQ efforts, including debriefs and win/loss analysis.
  • Confident public speaker with experience representing firms at industry events, career fairs, and networking functions.
  • Strong network in the regional A/E/C community or demonstrated ability to build client relationships.
  • Effective collaborator who involves colleagues in external relationship-building and outreach efforts.
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing, and narrating skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with technical staff and leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam, and CRM/proposal platforms (Unanet preferred).
  • Familiar with Washington procurement processes and regional A/E/C industry trends.

Additional Information

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based, with extended periods of computer use.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasional local travel for events, industry functions, or visits to other KPFF offices.
  • This position is based on-site in KPFF's Lacey office.

Compensation

This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and is eligible to receive overtime compensation at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked beyond 40 hours in a standard work week. The hourly rate for this role is competitive with a range of $36.00 to $75.00 determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
