Production Supervisor (Finance)



Position Title: Production Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor will work to develop and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, standard work instructions, and process improvements. This role will motivate, monitor and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance, gage workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary. This role will be responsible for management and expansion of HVC's Welding and NDT programs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and supervise a group of 15+ union welders and NDT Inspectors.
  • Drive lean principles to improve the operational processes within welding and NDT departments.
  • Aid in the planning and execution of the production schedule to meet production requirements.
  • Provide detailed key performance indicators and hold weekly team reviews to drive cross functional goals set forth by Hunt and our corporate leadership.
  • Ensure a safe environment for employees through adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, improving housekeeping standards, conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective action.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control of all WIP and FGI product within the department and minimizing inventory held through efficient planning and achievement of lower lead times
  • Develop and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, Standard Work Instructions, and process improvements.
  • Motivate, monitor and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance. Gage workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary.
  • Coordinate routine machine maintenance and help troubleshoot any issues that arise during the manufacturing process, as needed.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly to peers, management, customers, and vendors. Robust written and verbal communication capabilities are both a must.
  • Knowledge of industry welding standards (e.g., AWS) with preference for Naval welding standards
  • Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards and geometric tolerancing
  • Familiarity with welding of frequently used materials for Naval applications, such as Monel, Stainless Steel, Nickel-Aluminum and other Bronzes, NICU, etc.
  • Applied attention to detail to review work of peers such as checking drawings, customer contract reviews, technical proposals, etc.
  • Ability to self-manage work in an environment of numerous competing tasks, including wherewithal to ask for help when needed.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) and other manufacturing and inspection aspects are preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related Engineering field from an accredited institution. Preference given to candidates with a Weld engineering degree or demonstrated welding focus of study.

EXPERIENCE: 1-5 Years (5+ preferred) in a Manufacturing/Engineering Environment.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in engineering or manufacturing-related field is highly preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Word and Excel; experience with an ERP system is preferred.
  • Very good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CNC machining and/or heavy manufacturing process is beneficial.
  • 5 years minimum experience and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing and supervising in a union-represented environment is helpful.
  • Knowledge of welding, heavy manufacturing machining, assembly processes and lean manufacturing methodology is a plus.
