Business Analyst 1 (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Business Analyst 1 in our Yarmouth, ME location. You must currently reside in ME. No relocation available. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering, documenting and communicating user requirements for small to medium size projects of average complexity and working closely with the project team, including product owner, to ensure requirements are understood and deliverables are aligned with project objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates understanding of business analysis principles/methodologies and applies them to development of basic user requirements
  • Manages user, functional and technical requirements for small-to-medium-size projects of average complexity
  • Identifies and contributes to basic discrepancy resolutions and conflicts in application requirements
  • Assists in resolving missing or conflicting requirements of basic scope among multiple stakeholders
  • Works closely with project team, including product owner to ensure requirements are understood and deliverables are aligned with project objectives
  • Suggests business process improvements to product owners and more experienced Engineering Business Analysts
  • Executes plan made by supervisor or mentor and may plan own documentation and analysis
  • Thoroughly documents work in organized manner in accordance with Garmin and engineering standards
  • Works collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with Garmin associates to achieve goals
  • Applies standards and procedures to accomplish tasks
  • Learns how to use and apply appropriate tools as needed for this role
  • Thoroughly documents work in an organized manner
  • Understands and complies with Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy
  • Abstracts up from low-level information to general understanding of business needs
  • Collaborates directly with co-located and remote development team and business clients
  • Collaborates with QA team to define test cases and assist with testing efforts
  • Works with end users to ensure user acceptance testing and deployment validation is completed
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or another related field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  • Must demonstrate ability to learn how to use and apply engineering and project management tools
  • Demonstrates understanding of business analysis principles and methodologies and capability to apply that knowledge to effectively accomplish essential functions of role
  • Understands importance of thoroughly documenting work in an organized manner
  • Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a team setting
  • Demonstrates ability to complete well defined basic tasks and/or projects
  • Identifies and resolves problems of basic scope using proper tools and techniques
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience and/or training
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Knowledge of human factors in UX design
  • International communications experience
