Systems and Data Integration Specialist (Information Technology)



The Systems and Data Integration Specialist is responsible for designing and managing robust system integrations across the five campuses of the University of Massachusetts and the UMass Foundation. This role ensures that enterprise applicationssuch as Salesforce, AWS, MuleSoft, Snowflake, and other mission-critical platformsinteroperate seamlessly to support advancement, operations, and data-driven outcomes.

Serving as a key collaborator within the Foundations IT ecosystem, this position supports the ongoing rollout of a new Salesforce CRM and the services to operationalize the system for all 5 UMass campus advancement partners and the Foundation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in eliminating system silos, optimizing ETL processes, and driving technical innovation through scalable integration strategies.

Your experience and expertise will enhance the Foundation IT teams ability to optimize data workflows and improve efficiency for all customers as we transform and modernize our technology stack to become a more data-driven decision-making organization.

Essential Functions
Operational Excellence
Stay current on emerging technologies and best practices.
Demonstrated experience and/or curiosity about ethical use of AI technologies including generative AI, predictive AI, and agentic AI systems.
Oversee test plans and quality assurance processes for integration initiatives.
Define and track performance metrics to assess the success and sustainability of integrations.
Participate in data architecture and design discussions.
Ensure compliance with data governance policies and security standards.
Knowledge of data privacy regulations and information security best practices.
Demonstrated success working across functional teams and communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Integration Strategy and Execution
Ensure that data flows seamlessly and accurately between disparate systems to create a unified view for robust reporting and data analysis.
Design, develop, and maintain efficient integrations across enterprise platforms including Salesforce, ERP, marketing automation, and data warehouse systems.
Collaborate on the data dictionary and data catalog projects.
Evaluate and recommend integration tools aligned with long-term strategic goals.
Document integration architecture, workflows, and standards for sustainability and clarity.
Monitor interface performance and resolve bottlenecks or failures proactively.

Technical Expertise and Governance
Define governance standards around data and integration.
Collaborate with Data Strategy and IT Security to uphold compliance and privacy standards.
Provide technical leadership on integration frameworks, platform connectivity, and vendor integrations.
Support vendor evaluations, onboarding, and planning for system interconnectivity.
Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Ability to evaluate, integrate, and manage AI tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with database management systems such as SQL Server or MySQL.
Experience with data mapping, data migration, and data transformation processes.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
Understanding data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.

Training, Support, and Change Enablement
Deliver training, technical documentation, and support to users and administrators.
Translate business needs into technical requirements for seamless cross-functional collaboration.
Lead change management activities related to integration initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption.

Other Functions/Responsibilities
Participate in staff meetings, project reviews, and planning sessions.
Comply with departmental policies and maintain prompt, clear documentation.
Support after-hours deployments or incident response as needed.
