Data Analyst (Remote-TX) (Finance)

Summary:

The Data Analyst - Community Initiatives supports Methodist Healthcare Ministries' efforts to improve community well-being by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data that informs programmatic and policy decisions. While the initial focus of this role is digital equity-mapping access, infrastructure, and community needs-this position is designed to adapt and support future initiatives as community priorities evolve.

The Analyst will manage datasets, create compelling reports and visualizations, and use GIS and statistical tools to surface insights that guide strategy. This role collaborates closely with internal teams, consultants, and external partners to ensure data is accessible, actionable, and aligned with MHM's mission.

Salary:

Annual Salary rate begins at $74,246. Mid range at $92,808. Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.

Essential Duties:

  • Collect, clean, and manage datasets related to digital equity and other emerging community initiatives.
  • Analyze and interpret data to inform strategic planning, funding decisions, and policy/advocacy efforts.
  • Create maps and visualizations using GIS tools to illustrate community access, infrastructure gaps, and social determinants of health.
  • Prepare data reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal leadership, funders, and external stakeholders.
  • Support cross-sector initiatives by contributing data insights and translating complex findings into clear, meaningful recommendations.
  • Collaborate with MHM teams and community partners to ensure data collection and analysis efforts are aligned and equitable.
  • Stay current on data trends, tools, and community needs to adapt to new focus areas beyond digital equity.
  • Represents MHM at community meetings and events as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and visualization to support community-based programs or policy efforts
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms)
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and experience using tools such as R, Python, SPSS, or Excel for data modeling and reporting
  • Effectively communicates findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping guide strategic decisions through data-driven storytelling tailored to organizational needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple datasets, maintain data integrity, and ensure data is used responsibly and ethically
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, consultants, and community partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Additional Desired Skills:
  • Basic understanding of public health, digital equity, human services and disparities within Texas Experience with evaluation frameworks and impact measurement, including logic models, theories of change, or results-based accountability
  • Experience collecting and integrating both qualitative and quantitative community data for analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with participatory data methods or community-engaged research
  • Experience with policy analysis or advocacy support is a plus.
  • Written and verbal Spanish language proficiency

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required. Experience working with administration, or grants management with community-based organizations or foundations preferred. Three years professional experience in one or more of these areas: data analysis, GIS mapping, or research in a community or nonprofit setting required. Experience creating partnerships and successfully managing internal and external relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders required.

Language Ability:

Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluent in English required; Spanish bilingual preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Computer Skills:

Excellent with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Word and Excel applications.

Travel:

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to community partner sites, MHM clinic and program sites, convenings, and conferences, including overnight stays. Must work some evenings and weekends as job duties may require.
