2026 Summer Geoscience Internship (Finance)
Job Summary
Geoscience Summer Interns will interpret subsurface geoscience and related data to help with our hydrocarbon exploration and development projects during 12-week summer internship. They will work with a mentor and a group of other professionals to make recommendations for further activities related to basin studies, prospects and/or field development. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with other interns and Murphy professionals working on a variety of projects to learn about all aspects of the industry. Current Geoscience Summer Internship positions are available in our Exploration and Subsurface, Offshore and Onshore Development Teams located in Murphy Oil Corp's corporate office in Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities
Development Interns may conduct reservoir studies that will include interpretation of 3D seismic data, analyzing well logs, etc. with a geoscientist to draft cross-sections, structure/net pay maps, and amplitude maps to quantify the oil and gas reserves of a developing field. They should have a background with a heavy emphasis on stratigraphy and deep-water depositional systems.
Exploration Interns should have experience in 3D seismic interpretation, structural geology, basin modeling, and/or rock physics. They will interpret well log data, 3D seismic data, perform amplitude analyses, assist in the creation of regional basin models, and/or assist in maturation efforts over our exploration acreage in the US GOM and Internationally.
