Operational Excellence Lead (Engineering)

Jabil is seeking an experienced Lean Six Sigma - Operational Excellence Lead to work in Auburn Hills, MI. 

How will you make an impact?  This is a Lean Six Sigma role, as an Operational Excellence Lead, you will work to drive strategic improvement across the site, functioning as an internal consultant who applies Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, optimize processes, and enable sustainable business transformation.

What will you do?

  • Lead Lean Initiatives: Drive implementation of 5S, Standard Work, VSM, and other Lean tools to deliver measurable and sustainable improvements.

  • Kaizen Project Leadership: Plan, lead, and support Kaizen events and Lean Six Sigma projects, ensuring alignment with site and regional objectives.

  • Coach & Train Teams: Mentor and train employees at all levels in Lean principles and problem-solving methods, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Governance & Collaboration: Facilitate the Site Lean Council and represent the site in Regional Lean Councils, aligning efforts and sharing best practices.

  • Metrics & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report Lean performance metrics; develop new metrics to assess continuous improvement culture maturity and operational progress.

  • Process Improvement Support: Apply established Lean principles and built-in quality concepts when analyzing, developing, or improving processes, ensuring changes are efficient and sustainable.

  • Advanced Analysis & Simulation: Conduct in-depth analysis and simulations to optimize the flow and layout of business and manufacturing processes and operations; collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-based improvements.

  • Sitewide Transformation Support: Support business transformation initiatives and major new process developments by contributing Lean expertise and analytical insight from concept through execution.

  • Vendor & Strategic Partner Collaboration: Engage with external vendors, consultants, and strategic partners to ensure alignment with Lean and Six Sigma principles across collaborative projects.

  • Stakeholder Communication & Representation: Create and deliver presentations to site leadership, customers, corporate stakeholders, and external visitors to showcase Lean initiatives, continuous improvement outcomes, and transformation milestones.

  • Recognize Excellence: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by leading sitewide recognition efforts that highlight impactful Lean contributions and milestones.

  • Work safely at all times and comply with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules

How will you get here? 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering specifically in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial is strongly preferred or equivalent training and field experience is required.

  • At least 3 years of experience working in an Engineering position or Continuous Improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools for problem solving, including statistical methods, PFMEA, root cause analysis and their application to a manufacturing process is strongly preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or strong understanding preferred. Ability to provide examples of knowledge and application.

  • Advanced PC skills, especially Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI)

  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong Public Speaking Skills; must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
