EMR Trainer/Support Specialist I (Finance)



Under the immediate supervision of the Clinical Applications Supervisor, the EMR Trainer/Support Specialist I, is responsible for delivering and managing training programs to educate healthcare providers and staff on how to effectively use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring accurate data entry, efficient workflows, and compliance with healthcare regulations, often by creating customized training materials, conducting in-person and online sessions, and providing ongoing at the elbow support to users as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Development:
Creating comprehensive approved training materials including agendas, class handouts, presentations, tip sheets, and best practice workflows based on EMR system functionalities, best practices and user needs.

• Training Delivery:
Conducting both individual and group training sessions for new and existing users, covering basic operations, advanced features, and workflows. Provide hands-on support during new hire orientation, system upgrades and workflow changes. Maintain documentation of training activities, user issues and resolutions.

• Needs Assessment:
Identifying training needs by analyzing user feedback, workflow challenges, training gaps and system updates to tailor training content accordingly.

• System Expertise:
Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the EMR system, including updates, new features, and system configurations to accurately train and support users.

• Performance Evaluation:
Assessing user competency through hands-on exercises, practice scenarios, and monitoring system usage to identify areas for improvement and have strong communication with their supervisor/manager.

• Support:
Assist users with basic troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues during training and provide at-elbow support to reinforce their learning while maintaining the best practice workflows. Assist in first-call resolution and troubleshooting EMR issues. Participate in testing and validation of new features, modules and system updates in the EMR.

• Minimal physical effort required with occasional light lifting to a maximum of 25 pounds; stooping; and pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers

• Ability to effectively manage considerable mental stress

• Ability to express or exchange ideas using the spoken word

• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and convey information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner

• Familiarity with computers and other business machines

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma, college degree preferred with basic knowledge of healthcare

• Experience: Recommended 2-5 years of experience in a hospital, physician's office, or healthcare application training and support role. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

• Work Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or as otherwise determined or needed to train or support the healthcare staff.

• Participates in the EMR support on-call rotation.
