Materials Process Engineer (Engineering)



What you will do
As a Materials Engineer at Clarios, you will play a pivotal role in developing and
supporting the production of Lead acid energy storage designs to meet the
electrification needs of automotive customers. This includes coordinating product development to meet critical timelines, supporting product launches at the plant level, and managing engineering changes for production products. You will also lead the development, validation, and optimization of materials and processes for lead-acid battery components, ensuring performance, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness across global manufacturing and supplier networks. How will you do it
• Take ownership of lead component design and validation supporting lead system engineers and manufacturing plants.
• Design and validate new materials and components for lead-acid and advanced battery applications.
• Lead prototype development and testing for new materials.
• Define and refine material specifications and performance standards for
materials and components.
• Define and improve manufacturing processes related to chemical conversion and material integration.
• Work closely with OEM and IAM engineering teams to clarify customer
requirements. Support Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Quality teams in supplier development and audits.
• Participate in DFMEA, DVP&R, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Support the CAD team to prepare technical drawings of components and
assemblies.
• Support cross-functional procurement and supplier quality team to ensure
suppliers are meeting Clarios outlined drawing and product release standards.
• Support project team with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to ensure that the design of components optimizes the manufacturing and assembly process.
Ensure that the design of components facilitate handling throughout the product life cycle from shipping through disassembly and recycling.
 

What we look for:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in materials engineering, preferably with lead-acid battery systems or heavy metals.
• Strong knowledge of material testing, failure analysis, and regulatory standards.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and supplier PPAP processes.
• Working knowledge in CAD tools and data analysis software.

Preferred:
• Experience interfacing directly with OE customers.
• Manufacturing process knowledge and plant environment experience
• Experience with the SAP document management system related to engineering change, material masters, engineering bill of materials and manufacturing bill of materials.
