Ultrasonographer - Maternal Fetal Medicine (Finance)



Provides diagnostic studies, treatment and support to high-risk obstetric patients by performing specific diagnostic tests as ordered by providers. Has full knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards associated with procedures. Assures accuracy of test results, reports and equipment by having a thorough understanding of tests and techniques.

Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts Tuesday - Friday

Hiring Range: $48.60 - $68. Rate is commensurate with experience and certification(s).

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care

  • Perform wide variety of clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography exams.
  • Explain procedure to patient and check to assure understanding.
  • Assist patient in preparing for exam (i.e. positioning, getting onto table).
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while in the sonographer's care.
  • Use skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Follow patient protocols defined by department providers and outlined in department to provide consistent and high quality patient care.
  • Provide reassurance and support to patient throughout procedure.
  • Assure understanding of discharge instructions before patient leaves care area.
  • Identify patient concerns and potential risks in a timely manner.
  • Assure test quality and take corrective action where appropriate.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an ARDMS accredited school of ultrasound.
  • ARDMS registered in OB.
  • Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience in OB sonography.
  • Experienced in high risk OB ultrasounds.
  • Endovaginal scanning skills required.
  • Minimum skills in abdominal color duplex scanning.
  • Ability to perform variety of invasive, non-invasive general, OB, and vascular procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient medical or Perinatology Clinic highly preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance required.

Pay Range:
$47.62 - $71.44

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
