Senior Print Production Artist (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Print Production Artist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, producing, file preparation, and archiving of all promotional projects including, but not limited to, packaging, print advertising, merchandising, ad specialties and collateral materials to ensure quality and appropriate arrival of said projects by requested deadline. This role will also maintain the Garmin Print Center.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and complete projects for the print center
  • Complete file preparation and production of complex advertising, collateral, packaging, merchandising and tradeshow jobs based on assigned deadline
  • Collaborate with Art Directors, Designers and Copywriters to create effective packaging materials
  • Responsible for consistent application of brand style on all projects
  • Contribute to archiving efforts on completed jobs
  • Work with Art Directors and Designers in setting up print files, editing files or checking files as needed
  • Upload final project files to SharePoint for localization by international offices when needed
  • Coordinate packaging translations
  • Contribute to the creation of design elements for use in print materials
  • Provide training and daily support to all Print Production Artists to finalize files for printing, and ensure templates are created and utilized properly, along with maintaining brand continuity
  • Mentor less experienced team members
  • Assist in the creation of bid/estimate jobs through multiple outside vendors, as well as provide Purchasing appropriate information to establish a Purchase Order for the various projects in order to coordinate most efficient turn-time for the client
  • Assist in press checks at various printers to ensure the quality of the printed pieces is acceptable
  • Work on special packaging requests
  • Proactively contribute to improvement of processes, standards and guidelines
  • Create packaging templates by setting up dies and laying out standard content
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the library of color and paper samples
  • Understand and apply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy
  • Remain current on the features and benefits of the complete Garmin product line
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Printing, Art, or related degree AND a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in Mac OS computer skills utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) along with other relevant print related software
  • Knowledge in the application of pre-press production methods and final production follow through
  • Effectively apply knowledge of communications practices, processes, programs and technology
  • Ability to estimate the level of effort for a task
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others
  • Demonstrate broad-based knowledge of the organization, business, operations, industry and how they contribute to effective communications
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organizational and follow-up skills with a keen attention to detail and quality
  • Reputation as an approachable and effective professional serving associates and the organization
  • Ability to resolve project conflicts with minimal assistance
  • Demonstrate a consistent focus on accountability and achievement of strategic and tactical goals
  • Experience in mentoring or training less-experienced team members
