Special Education Teacher (K-3) (Education)

Who We Are:
We are transforming education and redefining the way schools serve students and families.
Our mission is to provide a mastery-based, student-centered approach that empowers every student to excel academically and grow personally. Our vision is to deliver an educational experience tailored to each student's unique strengths and opportunities for growth. Students will flourish academically, socially, and emotionally in an inclusive, thoughtfully designed environment that supports their success while breaking down barriers often found in traditional schools. While open to all students in Nashville as a public school, our focus is on being a true neighborhood school for the students and families of the Pearl-Cohn and Whites Creek Clusters.
Encompass is set to open in August 2025, welcoming 105 students in grades K-3 to embark on this innovative journey.

About the job:

All classrooms have two educators and the second adult is either a special populations teacher or an instructional assistant.

Beyond the classroom, we believe teachers play a critical role in establishing and fostering a community of belonging for all students and families. The ideal candidate is committed to student success through personalized, evidence-based teaching strategies, thrives in a collaborative setting, and demonstrates a growth mindset.

Our teachers:

Internalize and execute engaging lessons, units and instructional guides aligned with MMGI principles and school-wide learning goals
Scaffold learning by breaking down complex skills into manageable components for students
Actively participate in cycles of continuous improvement through coaching and collaboration
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs, goals, and abilities
Provide differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to support students with disabilities
Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure an inclusive class environment
Use data-driven approaches to monitor and report on students' progress toward academic, social, and behavioral goals
Advocate for students with special needs and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., IDEA, Section 504)
Participate in data meetings, support team meetings, and child find process
Implement strategies aligned with Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
