Sr Digital Communications & Content Spec (E5473) (Information Technology)

Job Summary
The Senior Future Directions Digital Communications and Content Specialist will provide the technical delivery of the Future Directions digital presence on assigned projects, share guidance and training to the team, and coordinate with volunteers activities to support the creation and maintenance of new and current websites, product resources, delivery of online webinars, tutorials, and workshops. The individual will be responsible for the professional digital presence design work for assigned Future Directions communications and promotional projects such as web sites, advertisements, email marketing, direct mail, product packaging, posters, flyers, brochures, etc. The individual will be exposed to new and emerging technologies.

The individual in the role will be accountable for creative efforts in direct support of all Future Directions initiative activities. These may include conference marketing, advertising acquisition, membership recruitment and retention, various promotions, webinars, volunteer programs and other activities. Metrics include timeliness, volume, and competitive aesthetics.

This is an essential role contributing to the success of the individual and digital team, and effectiveness of overall visibility and brand of Future Directions. 

The role reports to a Manager and manages zero direct reports. This is a full time position working under general guidelines. Work may be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting required objectives, called upon to lead or coach others.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall daily review of primary initiatives to ensure content is fresh and relevant. This may include the research and securing content from multiple sources, e.g. SMEs, technology publications, initiative steering committee, etc. Responsibility to update the overall digital presence from the secured content via the CMS platform, html, and other methods. The digital presence comprises of the primary initiative website, social media accounts, Resource Center, ILN, and Collabratec. Identify issues as they arise and provide solutions.
• Enable overall successful deployment of virtual webinars, tutorials, workshops via appropriate platforms that may include ON24, Zoom, and/or WebEx. This may include setup of promotional and registration websites, recording, and making available via Resource Center, ILN, direct website, or appropriate platform.
• Track and analyze web analytics for initiative web portals. Present analytics reports to initiative steering committees on portal usage, traffic and visitor trends.
• Seek opportunities to innovate and create new content to augment current projects within Future Directions.
• Keep apprised of marketing trends, best practices and new tools; present recommendations to the team.
• Other responsibilities related to support of the success of the primary initiatives include overall organization and management of a bi-monthly technical newsletter, monthly technical community letter updates, and creation of and updating conference websites and its marketing/communications of CFPs, registrations, program, and more. Prepare and present on key projects to management and among other IEEE groups when requested.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a web, creative design, or equivalent experience Req

Work Experience

• 4-7 years work experience in marketing or communications field and experience working with web services integration and content management systems (CMS). Joomla, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, XML, FTP; Search Engine Optimization and Google Analytics; graphic design and creation; overall communications both digital and hardcopy. Req
• 2-4 years experience with email marketing campaigns and marketing automation software; Marketo marketing automation experience strongly preferred Req

• Able to work with social media creation and maintenance; innovation as social media evolves
• Strong customer service, frequent communication with volunteers and other IEEE stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience and comfort with analyzing raw data and transforming to insightful action oriented reports.
• Experience in designing/creating multi-touch/multi-channel email marketing campaigns
• Full understanding of email communication/SPAM laws, GDPR compliance
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with digital analytic tools, preferably Google Analytics
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
