Production Manager - Night Shift (Project Management)

About the Position:

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all equipment and production issues within the food manufacturing plant. This role ensures that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, while maintaining high standards of quality. The Production Manager will analyze reports, solve technical problems, and optimize production line efficiency.

Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

  • Develops strategic and tactical plans to meet business needs, with timely implementation.
  • Manages financial performance, including budgeting, costing, tracking of expenses and direct labor, and results feedback.
  • Leads and implements TPM related initiatives.
  • Establishes safety as the top priority in training, job design, work assignment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day operational direction across the site as a back-up to the Operations Manager.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of production, including equipment maintenance and quality control.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to dramatically improve costs.
  • Analyze production data and reports to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Provide problem-solving for technical issues and implement effective solutions to root causes.
  • Ensure efficiency and productivity on the production lines by optimizing processes and workflows.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure seamless operations and resolve any inter-departmental issues.
  • Support aggressive "speed-to-market" and other corporate initiatives to help grow the business.
  • Establish high performance standards in housekeeping, GMPs, AIB, and HACCP.
  • Ensure product quality: establish and manage systems to ensure "right the first time" performance and appropriate interfaces with suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the plant.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, equipment maintenance, and technical issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; delegating tasks to and partnering with employees who have leadership responsibilities; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, engineering, or the food processing field.
  • 5 years of leadership experience in continuously increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in variety of manufacturing areas including production and logistics within the food industry preferred.
  • History of successful implementation of improvement methodologies such as OEE, 5S, TPM, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing

Attendance:

To support ongoing business goals and successfully contribute to your team, acceptable levels of performance and attendance must be consistently maintained, including attending all required meetings and events. Requires the flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed.

Employees are required to conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following all compliance and The Krusteaz Company safety protocols. Employees must be willing to be responsible for their safety and health as well as the safety and health of all employees, vendors, and visitors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position requires working in both manufacturing and office environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included. Must be able to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment. You may also be on your feet for several hours a day and may be exposed to a variety of physical demands that require you to lift heavy objects, climb stairs, exert energy, bend, twist and squat and use tools and equipment in an indoor production environment that has a high level of food dust and limited climate control while wearing PPE.
