Low Voltage Technician (Engineering)
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
Install, maintain, and upgrade low voltage systems including access control, CCTV, intercoms, fire alarms, and data/telecom networks.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and performance.
Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and company policies.
Troubleshooting and Repair:
Diagnose and resolve issues in low voltage systems using diagnostic tools and industry knowledge.
Replace, adjust, or repair faulty components and devices to ensure uninterrupted service.
Maintain detailed records of service calls, repairs, and equipment performance.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations as well as internal safety protocols during installations and service calls.
Stay current with advancements in low voltage technologies, codes, and best practices.
Promote a proactive safety culture and participate in regular safety briefings and audits.
Resident and Staff Interaction:
Respond to work orders and system alerts in a timely, professional manner to minimize disruption to residents and staff.
Communicate clearly with team members and facility staff regarding system status, timelines, and project updates.
Demonstrate sensitivity and professionalism in a senior living environment.
Inventory and Documentation:
Track and maintain inventory of cables, tools, and electronic components.
Assist with project planning, cost estimation, and system documentation for renovations or new installations.
Maintain accurate installation plans and service records for reference and compliance purposes.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working with low voltage systems in commercial or residential environments.
Knowledge of fire alarm, security, access control, data cabling, and audio/visual systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Valid driver's license.
NICET, BICSI, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Criminal background check required.
