Adult Day Care Program Manager (Personal Services)



Position Summary:
Under supervision, oversees the operation of the Adult Day Care (ADC) program within the Senior Center. This position is directly responsible for creating and directing programs which address the medical and psychosocial needs of ADC participants. The ADC Manager is responsible for ensuring participants and their family/caregivers have a safe, positive, and secure environment which will address the daily living and medical needs of participants while helping to maintain the dignity of each participant enrolled in the ADC program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Oversees the Adult Day Care program and supervises Adult Day Care staff.
· Coordinate with caregivers, families, social service agencies, medical professionals, and other programs in planning participants' program of care.
· Maintain client files and keeps patient information updated and confidential.
· Instruct participants regarding medications and/or special diets or medical instructions.
· Prepares and administers medications for participants.
· Assists Health and Human Services Director in the financial planning and management of the ADC program, including approving requisitions, billing, reimbursements, and budgets.
· Monitors the ADC program to ensure quality of care, compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and effectiveness of the program.
· Attends ongoing training and in-service training as needed.
· Maintains department standards of strict confidentiality on all matters.
· Follows department policy and procedures and chain of command.
· Performs other duties as directed.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Certifications:
· Knowledge of Santa Ana Pueblo traditions, language, history and culture.
· Knowledge and adherence to all pertinent tribal, federal, and state laws.
· Knowledge of cognitive impairments such as Dementia, confusion or other memory loss problems or chronic medical conditions.
· Knowledge of medical terminology and various geriatric medical conditions.
· Knowledge of infection control, HIPPA regulations, supply management, scheduling, case management and medical teamwork.
· Ability to prioritize workloads, maintain confidentiality, work independently and upon own initiative.
· Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
· Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
· Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people.
· Ability to exercise independent judgment.
· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in gerontology or closely related field, plus 6 years-experience with at least 3 years being in a supervisory/management capacity or equivalent amount of education and experience. The ability to speak the Keres Language is preferred. Must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently. Must be in good health and free of communicable diseases. Must be willing to submit to health screenings, such as TB testing. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license and be insurable under the Pueblo's insurance.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move and transfer 50 pounds or more.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a day care setting with a moderate noise level. Situations where extreme caution must be exercised occur in the daily activities of this job.
