Health Services Support Staff-PT (Healthcare)



Job Summary:

To provide medical services for clients of City Union Mission to provide comfort, promote healing and increase their knowledge of preventative medical care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Function as a positive contributing staff member of City Union Mission by engaging in timely communication, active participation in meetings, strategic planning, data management, supplying accurate reports, and problem solving to ensure unity with the purpose and goals of the Mission.
  • Help maintain Health Services Center hours among programs served. Perform administrative duties including updating client records and calling in prescription refills.
  • Observe, report and provide care within the scope of certification and Mission policies. Referrals to physicians or other health professionals are made as appropriate. Work with area medical facilities to promote care for clients.
  • Collaborate with the Case Management Team and Counseling Team to promote care.
  • Provide input for client Infirmary placement based on assessment and information provided by physicians and/or other health professionals.
  • Coordinate and work with student nurses.
  • Help maintain all supplies and medications needed for the clinic.
  • Be available to consult on health and safety concerns Mission-wide.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities arise during the workday. (1 Peter 2:21, 3:15)

  • Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless, and the urban poor of Kansas City, with a compassionate heart.

  • Agree to City Union Mission's Statement of Ministry:

    • Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.

    • Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.

    • Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.

    • Have a minimum of one year of sobriety from alcohol and drugs and six months from tobacco.

    • Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.

    • Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.




  • Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Must have the spiritual maturity and ability to interact with various types of people and have a sound understanding of mental health, disabilities  and/or age related challenges.

  • Must have the ability to be flexible and able to cover a variety of areas as a PRN staff member.


  • Education and Experience:



  • Current certification in BLS for Healthcare Workers is required or obtained within the first two months of employment.

  • Current RN licensure.


  • Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

  • Ability to assist guests to exit in times of emergency evacuation.


  • Travel Requirements:



  • Ability to drive to our campuses in Kansas City and in Warsaw.
