Get to Know This Role
The Innovation Manager is responsible for the identification and development of future new products primarily outside of traditional beer categories. This includes carving out the white space, building the strategy, and developing a plan to capture market share and grow the Sierra Nevada portfolio – as well as working closely with our brewing team on liquid creation. This position will own new product development across a variety of verticals and be held accountable to deliver specific volume/revenue targets with these brands in partnership with their respective Brand Managers. In addition to cultivating new brands, the Innovation Brand Manager is responsible for keeping the innovation pipeline full of future NPD opportunities.

What You Will Do
  • Analyzes market data, category trends, and consumer insights to identify new product white spaces
  • Develops positioning, concepts and brand identities for new product offerings
  • Oversees the formulation, testing and deployment of new product launches throughout the process
  • Develops annual budgets, pricing guidelines and profitability targets
  • Work closely with the Research & Insights team to learn about the drinker and test new concepts
  • Partners with the brewing innovation team to develop liquid targets and validate through testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in both strategy and planning for new brand launches
  • Works with creative team to establish brand guidelines and communicate them to the broader team
  • Prepare quarterly presentations highlighting category trends and identifying potential white spaces
  • Creates intelligent, strategic marketing presentations utilizing data, insights and storytelling
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a dashboard of metrics to gauge market effectiveness
  • Establishes trust with cross-functional team members and organization leadership
     
  • Position must be based in either Chico, CA
  • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including some nights and weekends
     
Please Apply if You Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field OR any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved required
  • Master's Degree marketing or related field preferred
  • 6 years marketing experience or 4 years marketing experience with a Master's degree required
  • 2 years brand or product management within the CPG industry required
  • Previous alcoholic beverage industry experience and experience with CPG brands preferred
  • Demonstrated experience identifying product white spaces, building differentiated brands to meet the consumer need, successfully bringing them to market and driving sustained performance at retail
  • Must have proven track record of building brands, brand strategies with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience building successful brand and channel plans is mandatory
  • Must have thorough knowledge of market and brand research methods and strong ability of how to utilize and leverage brand insights
  • Familiarity with beverage alcohol culture and working knowledge of its key players, brands, trends etc. is highly desirable
  • Excellent analytic skills, experience with syndicated data a plus
  • Project management skills
  • Patience for approval processes and ability to present ideas persuasively to senior management
  • Ability to focus on details, as well as maintaining an eye on the high-level strategy
  • Ability to multitask – focusing on several projects in different lifecycle stages simultaneously
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, learning-oriented environment
