President & General Manager

Orbitel Communications is a Schurz Communications company that operates a growing Broadband and Fiber network that provides a full suite of residential and business product solutions consisting of high-speed data, internet, video, and voice services.  We are seeking a new visionary General Manager to lead our Orbitel Communications company in Maricopa & Chandler, Arizona.  The successful person will oversee the local go-to-market strategy and have overall responsibility for customer service, engineering/operations, sales, financial management, community/government public relations, and local marketing engagement.  The selected leader will inspire a high-performing team to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction while achieving financial & operational results within the expanding service markets around and near high growth areas of Pheonix, Arizona.

Title: President and General Manager – Orbitel Communications

Location: Maricopa, Arizona

Rate: $185,000-$260,000 annually, plus management incentives

Full-Time/Part Time: Full-Time

Reporting to: President, Schurz Broadband Group

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
    1. Lead employee relations, including hiring, coaching, and fostering a positive work environment.
    2. Develop and execute business strategies to achieve the company's service and financial goals.
    3. Oversee local operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance with all regulations and company policies.
  2. Community, Customer, and Employee Relations:
    1. Act as a local brand ambassador by building strong relationships with community leaders, customers, and stakeholders.
    2. Promote a customer-focused culture with excellent service and high satisfaction.
    3. Create an inclusive, positive workplace that supports high quality people engagement and employee development.
    4. Ensure compliance with company enterprise risk management policies and human resources standards.
    5. Align training and local management oversight of team members to help them grow their careers.
    6. Help to advance AI technologies into the organization to enable employees to operate more effectively and make it easier for customers to interact.
  3. Sales and Business Development Growth:
    1. Lead initiatives to grow new sales revenue by developing and executing incentive programs, marketing strategies, tactics, and campaigns across various sales channels and customer segments.
    2. Identify business development opportunities by analyzing market trends, including potential expansion options and public/private partnership programs.
    3. Support the implementation of ongoing innovative market driven product solutions to achieve increased ARPU targets.
  4. P&L Management:
    1. Oversee capital and expense budgeting to meet financial goals and forecasts.
    2. Ensure cost control and operational efficiency for profitability.
    3. Manage finances by approving expenditures, controlling inventory, and monitoring system costs.
  5. Operational Excellence:
    1. Achieve capital efficiency for expanding new fiber and technology investments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope. This includes efficiently upgrading current legacy infrastructure to be more fiber enabled.
    2. Deliver high-quality products and services across all customer segments to maintain strong Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
    3. Enhance operational processes and systems for greater efficiency.
    4. Track and adjust operational performance to optimize company results, especially as related to operating in a more competitive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in business, engineering, technology, or a related field desired; MBA or advanced degree a plus; or directly related successful work management experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales, marketing, or engineering operations within fiber or cloud technology industries.
  • Prior experience as a General Manager or similar sales and/or marketing role, with P&L growth.
  • Operational leadership within competitive settings successfully constructing and efficiently enabling new fiber deployment is required.
  • Proven previous leadership successfully managing community, customer, and employee relations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial and data-driven strategic thinking abilities.
  • Must reside in or near the Orbitel community Maricopa/Chandler footprint or be willing to relocate with a reasonable period.
